Additional Comments for the Report:
Highlighting Challenges:
Political Strikes and Road Closures:
During the consultation, a political strike led to road closures, making travel extremely difficult, if not impossible. Despite these challenges, 63 participants attended, surpassing our initial invitation of 50 participants. This turnout highlights the deep commitment of local leaders to the importance of discipleship and the consultation.
On the third day, our main session speaker, Dr. Maqsood Kamil, was unable to reach the venue due to the roadblocks. In his absence, Rev. Raja Shaleem successfully led the session, demonstrating the talent and adaptability of our diverse team, which can effectively manage any situation.
Future Recommendations:
Accommodations Opinion:
We need to consider accommodation arrangements more thoroughly to meet all participants’ needs. Many attendees from Islamabad and Rawalpindi preferred to commute daily rather than stay overnight.
As a second option, we suggest selecting a tourist destination in the northern regions of the country for future events, where all participants could be accommodated. This would minimize dropout rates and mitigate issues related to local political strikes and road closures for both participants and the event management team.
Collaborative Partnerships:
Ministries and organizations participating in the Whole-Life Discipleship Consultation have recognized the shared challenges they face in Pakistan’s multi-religious context. To foster ongoing dialogue and collaboration, they are initiating monthly meet-ups to continue discussions on interfaith engagement, mutual support, and best practices for promoting inclusivity. These gatherings aim to strengthen relationships among diverse faith communities, encouraging cooperative efforts to address common societal issues and enhance understanding across religious boundaries.
Resource Compilation:
The report of the report is available online.
A post evaluation and feedback form is shared online with participants.
Diversity and Inclusion Focus:
The Whole-Life Discipleship Consultation effectively addressed diversity and inclusion by fostering open discussions about the challenges and opportunities for Christians in Pakistan’s multi-religious landscape in the view of seven suffers of life. The WLD consultation is a platform of multi-denominational & multi-fields & people for all age groups participated in the consultation, the youngest participant was 14 years old and the oldest was 71 years old.
